Medicare Supplement Rates: The Coverage Is The Same
As you know there have been a lot of talk regarding health care for seniors and whether or not there will be changes taking effect in the future. The good news is that everything will remain intact and while there were changes that took place as recently as May 31, 2010 the Medicare system is basically the same as it once was. In addition to receiving Medicare coverage when you turn 65 you will also be eligible to receive Medicare Supplemental Insurance. While Medicare Supplement rates may change from carrier to carrier the coverage is exactly the same.
Once you reach 65 years of age you will automatically be enrolled in Medicare part A and Medicare Part B. Medicare is designed to help offset your health care costs. Medicare Part A is designed to help with hospitalizations, nursing care facilities and emergency care. There are other benefits to Medicare Part A and all you have to do is contact your senior insurance agent so he or she can review with you in full what other benefits you are entitled to. Medicare Part B is coverage that is available to you by paying a monthly premium for coverage. Medicare Part B will help with co-pays and deductibles. In addition is will cover doctor’s fees, medical equipment and outpatient services. Traditional Medicare will pay for up to 80% of services that are approved and the remaining 20% will be your responsibility. You may not think much of that percentage, but if you are ever admitted into the hospital with a life threatening illness or you ever contract a severe medical condition that 20% could get out of control because there is not a cap on what you can be charged. This could spell financial disaster for you if you are on a fixed income. A Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plan will help offset your portion of your medical bills.
Medicare Supplement Insurance coverage is exactly the same regardless of what carrier you purchase it from. The difference is the cost of the premium you may be charged. While shopping around for Medicare Supplement insurance you will find that different carriers charge different rates. There are many factors for the varying amounts so be sure to compare Medicare Supplement rates and get the rate that best fits into your budget. Remember the coverage should be the same from carrier to carrier. Call your senior insurance agent today and get the coverage you need.
